Home renovations are a popular home improvement project for both homeowners and homebuilders. Homeowners want to make their home more livable, while homebuilders want to build homes that people would like to live in. This blog post will discuss three of the newest home styles:

  • the modern farmhouse
  • the arts and crafts style home
  • mid-century modern.

The first new trend is what many call “modern farmhouses”. Homes inspired by farms date back as far as ancient times with the Roman villa or manor house but became much more prevalent after World War II when returning soldiers wanted simple rural lifestyles without sacrificing luxuries such as running water and electricity. The modern version of this style began gaining popularity a few years ago and is going strong. It is a home with clean lines, crisp angles and the feeling that it was built in one piece. This home style evokes feelings of calmness & evokes feelings of peace and relaxation with an open floor plan which allows for plenty of light to flow throughout the home.

The second new trend is called “arts & crafts”. It dates back to early 1900s when there were many artisans who wanted their homes decorated in unique ways inspired by nature making it very Victorian-inspired but modernized so they are not quite as frilly or delicate. These homes tend to be smaller than average (around 1400 square feet) compared to other styles like colonial, cape cod or ranches which makes them perfect starter homes.

Many are now making the mid-century modern route and revisiting the 70s, except this time with a modern flair. It is very sleek, clean and has plenty of sharp lines.

These home renovations are great for those who want to invest in their home but also have a modern feel. They can also be used as rental properties if you’re looking into flipping homes or even just renting them out because these styles tend to appeal more towards younger generations which means they will rent it rather than buy right away.
